Speakers

Director of the J-PARC Center

Mayor of Tokai Village

13:45-Overview of J-PARC

Speaker

Dr. KOBAYASHI Takashi

 Director of the J-PARC Center

Dr. KOBAYASHI Takashi

- Profile -
Born in Okayama Prefecture.
Ph.D. from Hiroshima University in 1996.
He has been engaged in research using an accelerator to produce neutrinos artificially and send them 295 km away to Super-Kamiokande, with which the neutrino properties are studied.
The experiment group he led discovered that muon neutrinos can transform into electron neutrinos, for which he received the Nishina Memorial Prize in 2014.
He has been serving as Director of the J-PARC Center since April 2021.

 Lecture

14:00-"The Hidden Star: Mapping the World of Elementary Particles through Muons"

Speaker

Dr. MIHARA Satoshi

Hadron Section, Particle and Nuclear Physics Division, J-PARC Center
Professor, Institute of Particle and Nuclear Studies, High Energy Accelerator Research Organization

Dr. MIHARA Satoshi

- Profile -
After graduating from the Faculty of Science, Kyoto University, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo.
He has been promoting research in muon particle physics through international collaborations in Europe and Japan.
He has been in his current position since February 2014.

14:45-Q&A Session

 Lecture

15:15-"Exploring the Extremes of Matter with Quantum Beams From Hypernuclei to Neutron Stars"

Speaker

Dr. NAKAMURA Satoshi N.

Professor, Department of Physics, Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo
Director, Quark Nuclear Physics Research Center, the University of Tokyo

Dr. NAKAMURA Satoshi N.

- Profile -
After receiving his Ph.D. in Physics from the Department of Physics, Graduate School of Science, the University of Tokyo, he worked as a researcher at RIKEN and at the RIKEN-RAL facility in the UK (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory).
He then served as Associate Professor and later Professor at Tohoku University.
Since 2022, he has been serving as a Professor in the Department of Physics, Graduate School of Science, the University of Tokyo, and since 2024, he has also been serving concurrently as Director of the Quark Nuclear Physics Research Center, the University of Tokyo.
His research focuses on hypernuclear and strangeness nuclear physics through international collaborations at Jefferson Lab (USA), University of Mainz (Germany), Tohoku University (RARiS), and J-PARC (Japan).

16:00-Q&A Session

16:15-Closing Remarks

Speaker

Dr. SAWADA Shinya

Deputy Division Head, Particle and Nuclear Physics Division, J-PARC Center
Professor, Institute of Particle and Nuclear Studies, High Energy Accelerator Research Organization

Dr. SAWADA Shinya

- Profile-
Born in Tokyo and raised in Osaka.
He received his Ph.D. from Kyoto University in 1997 and has been engaged in experimental research on nuclear and hadron physics.
He has been involved in J-PARC since its planning stage, particularly in the design, construction, and operation of the Hadron Experimental Facility.
He finds the study of the "strong force"-which governs the behavior of nuclei and hadrons-to be a challenging yet deeply fascinating pursuit, as it remains full of unresolved mysteries about the nature of matter.

MC / Moderator

Dr. FUJITA Manami

Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Graduate School of Science, theUniversity of Tokyo

Dr. FUJITA Manami

- Profile-
She received her Ph.D. in Science from the Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University, in 2019.
After working as a researcher at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), she has been in her current position since April 2025.
At the Hadron Experimental Facility of J-PARC, she is engaged in experimental research on "hypernuclei," or so-called strange nuclei.
